In Putignano, Carnival lasts all year!
It starts on 26 December with the Festa delle Propaggini, when dialect poets challenge each other in Piazza Plebiscito with satirical verses. From January to March comes the time of the spectacular parades of allegorical papier-mâché floats, built by master craftsmen in the Capannoni on Via Castellana Grotte. The grand finale? In July, with the Summer Carnival.

In the heart of Putignano’s old town, the Museo Principe Guglielmo Romanazzi Carducci di Santo Mauro, opened in 2017, is one of the most important examples of a 19th-century historic palace in Puglia, with perfectly preserved original furnishings. The route winds through rooms full of period furniture, ornaments and paintings from the 17th to the 20th century. The museum takes its name from Guglielmo Romanazzi Carducci (1881-1968), the family’s last heir, who in 1967 donated the palace to the Municipality so it could become a museum.
A privately owned sacred site of extraordinary beauty and historical and cultural significance, a stop along the Via dell’Angelo and the Via Francigena and Micaelica pilgrim routes. It is also home to remarkable artistic treasures, such as 14th-century and early-Renaissance frescoes and sculptures by Stefano Pugliese, the renowned Renaissance sculptor known as Stefano da Putignano. The mystical site has been a pilgrimage destination for centuries.
Also known as the Putignano Cave, it is perhaps the most striking karst cave in the Puglia area. Its modest size and the incredible number of stalagmites and stalactites make the Cave a genuine jewel of age-old beauty. It is the only cave protected by a trullo and the first cave in Puglia ever opened to tourism.
Every Saturday morning, from 11:00 to 13:00, the staff of Birreria Oi! offer a guided walk through the historic centre with a closing aperitivo, by reservation.

Every Wednesday, from 5:00 am to 4:00 pm, the town market takes over several streets in the centre — including the Piazza Berlinguer Foro Boario car park, Corso Umberto I, Via Cappuccini, Via Giacomo Matteotti and Via Estramurale a Mezzogiorno — where parking is not allowed. If your stay falls on a Wednesday, we recommend parking on the surrounding streets that aren’t affected.
Near the historic centre you’ll find both free parking (white lines) and paid parking (blue lines). The Foro Boario / Piazza Berlinguer area is generally the most convenient, about a 3-minute walk from the property.
No — in most areas, parking on blue lines is free from 8:00 pm to 9:00 am, unless otherwise indicated by local signage.
